Chuck, More - Backplate
| Despite one very good run-out result after re-assembling the 3-jaw, it does seem apparent that jaw wear is prime cause of inconsistent accurate self centering. Took bull by the horns and machined a register on back plate, to at least ensure good concentricity with the body. Predictably, no major change - still irregular results.. Am desiring a new scroll chuck! Also - checked the great value 3/4" Jacobs style chuck - having remembered my spindle does have a taper mouth. Fitted it into a 4MT to 2MT adapter - results very acceptable. |
