Although mentioned elsewhere, it should be pointed out that until early 2015 we had to manage with a camera that was less than ideal - plus sometimes poor camera mounting and/or location, itself a learning process. Too often there were annoying focus problems and even definition was not really good enough. But that was all we had to work with.

Now, since the advent of a (slightly) better camera things have improved usefully, even though on occasions we still have issues. It is hoped that when viewing earlier videos, poor quality can be forgiven and the content can perhaps still be appreciated.
Gadgets & Gizmos, Introduction The series opener, with some general history and a preview of what we hope to be covering later.
Gadgets & Gizmos Part 1 A continued introduction concerning the current rather limited shop equipment we have.
Gadgets & Gizmos Part 2 Using gear wheels in the lathe spindle rear to achieve a usable form of basic division.
Gadgets & Gizmos Part 3 Cross drilling jig for the drill press when using very small size drills and fairly small dia work.
Gadgets & Gizmos Part 4 Description of our tailstock cross drilling jig and, a drill press simple tap starter.
Gadgets & Gizmos Part 5 A look at the renovating on a very beat-up old rotary table to make it useful.
Gadgets & Gizmos Part 6 Descriptions here of a tailstock die-holder and, our "Straddler" knurling device.
Gadgets & Gizmos Part 7 Here, we mainly look at a means of creating flats in the lathe with a file.
Gadgets & Gizmos Part 8 Describing - steadies, center finder, tool rest for a graver and, a 'smoker' for parts marking.
Gadgets & Gizmos Part 9, Final A sort of summation and look at other bits and pieces etc.
GlideCam - Details & Fabrication A series of stills and commentary on the making of this camera steady system.
The Graver Tool in Use We show how this simple tool can be put to use. Must warn regarding potential dangers, due to the forces.
Tailstock Die Holder In Use Showing this useful device in use - sadly definition is not that great.
'Straddler' Knurling Tool in Use Showing this in use and how we use it -- to get the proper heavy knurl needs a more aggressive start.
Lathe Cross Drill Jig Demo Set this up in the lathe to show it in use - great when real accuracy is essential.
Steady Demo and File Cleaning Set the steady to deal with a severe bar run-out - quite extreme! Plus, a file cleaning approach.
Making a Pair of Roller Blocks Despite a "Bozo Glitch" - these turned out OK - ideal for checking round bar truth etc.
Drill Press Clamps Some drill press clamps made long ago - useful design and have proved most effective and useful.
Eccentric Pin Turning More or less experimental to produce an offset pin. Could just have been drilled and a pin inserted!
'V' groove done in the lathe Awkward set-up - had to use vertical slide with some difficulty. Adequate result, just!
Vintage Coil Winder Made this just to show the rather interesting design and operation - it was sold eventually.
Our Early Channel Trailer This needs updated now, but was the trailer we made nearly 2 years ago.
Simple Keyway Cheat If all else fails, the lathe can allow for a keyway cut - here just the basic principle.
A Steel Fire Piston Just for fun - used some scrap steel to make this device, which does actually work in the end.
Simple Tempering Sand Box Although small this is useful for dealing with a 'soak' on small parts such as tools etc.
Small Shop Update - 11/9/13 Just a look-around since getting a cheapie new small workbench which helps a lot.
4-Way Tool Post Part 1 Consider making a clone of existing tool post - problems. Then stop, and make a 'T'-nut for a new tool post.
4-Way Tool Post Part 1B Mostly devoted to seeing if a fly cutter can work in the lathe to remove material from the large block.
4-Way Tool Post Part 2 This was almost all making a darned 'T' nut! Tedious milling in the lathe.
4-Way Tool Post Part 3 A lot of holes need drilled and tapped - and we have the milled blocks back.
4-Way Tool Post Part 4 Work on lower section and machining of some ancillary parts.
4-Way Tool Post Part 5, Final Finishing stages sufficient to get the whole thing together and ready for action.
'Refreshing' Small Drill Bits It's possible to slightly improve real mini drill bits this way - fiddly but it can work.
A Useful Mini Chuck The ideal device for when you have to drill very small holes and need delicate control of feed etc.
