Lathe Spindle Brake Project - Poor Result
| An 'on-the-fly' experiment to make a braking option, so as to slow the rotation of the spindle faster on power off. A simple approach but actually not very effective at all! There are other options to approach this, but more complicated which may yet be explored. This video shows the process as it 'hatched' and was implemented, with various changes along the way. Main problem was probably inadequate surface area available, coupled also with limited pressure achievable and the considerable momentum of a spinning chuck. |
