Lathe spindle brake project - next step, rethink!
| After the rather dismal failure of first effort - time to consider other options. Many suggestions were gratefully received after the initial try and from that a disk and caliper approach seems worth pursuing. Here, we just analyze the potential for making and fitting a keyed disk to the rear of the spindle, such that by mounting a caliper we can apply considerable drag and maybe gain enough rotational slowing to be useful when machine is powered off. |
