We cut the internal 10 TPI square thread in the brass nut and then move on to prepping and turning down the leadscrew for the male thread - including a frustrating tool breakage! In the end, as predicted, we have a tight fit of the nut on the male thread -- but some polishing and relief gets us to a tight but firm fit. Working nut to and fro then gives us a reasonable result as burrs get worn off. |
