Most of the project remaining now was the T-nuts. Initially, set up a 7" length of 5x8 x 3/4 bar to mill both sides down with roughing cutter. This was first time for the Grizzly doing such an operation so, an interesting challenge. Cut off just sub 1" lengths (there is only 1" available at the ends of the T-slots) and quickly faced those off in lathe 4 jaw. Next was drilling and tapping. Seem to have a good hold following suitable setting up procedure. The 30 thou eccentric offset is enough for locking but could better if a shade more... maybe 35 - 40 thou. |
