A Rifle Butt Plate
| Was asked to make a butt plate for a rifle stock - using aluminum. It was decided that some extension would be useful and so, we started with a piece of 1" thick bar.... in fact fabrication time was probably not much longer, plus it was possible to incorporate a butt hook. This was bolted to the base of the plate and allows for adjustment - spacer or spacers were made later for adjustment in the vertical.The bulk of the work was cutting off surplus material, followed by a large amount of time spent on a belt sander, plus various rotary sanding devices. |
