Hand Cutting a Small 'V' Groove
| Bearing in mind the function is basic and not critical it seemed worth trying to make a simple small groove by hand without using any machinery. Here we use just a hacksaw and various files to produce a reasonably functional result -- elbow grease and some sweat was all that was needed! Hardest part is starting a shallow groove that is straight, until filing with a square file completes the job - here not a very deep groove yet but enough for small dia pieces. Easier in a mill, naturally! |
