We make the first of four new fingers for the fixed steady - this time using a ball race in end 'forks' instead of a bronze tip. Main set-up uses the dividing head in the mill to permit accurate rotation from milling a flat, to an exact 90 degrees for milling the ball race slot. Once this piece complete we move to the lathe to cut a 1/2" x 20 thread after which, trim ends and finish - except for making the 1/4" bearing pins. |
